This was our first year to ever host Thanksgiving. It only involved the Everette grandparents coming to our house, but it was the first time that we haven't gone to someone else's house. However, I am still not a real grown up and told my mom that she had to cook the turkey (since I have no idea how!). All the food was very good, but I'm wondering when kids start to appreciate Thanksgiving food? Anna and Joshua would only eat the turkey and bread. My family is rather well known for being picky eaters, so I suppose they come by it honestly. But the whole Thanksgiving day is rather weird for kids - they don't get to eat at their normal time, and when they do get to eat it is weird mashed up food they don't recognize - too many casseroles! However, the Lil Smokies in crescent rolls saved it for them and all was good.
Anna also thought the term "Black Friday" was very strange and she did not at all appreciate staying home with only boys while Grandma and Mommy went shopping. She even called Grandma to ask her to come home. We didn't go out at midnight, but we did get a few deals. The Everette girls do enjoy shopping, so I'm sure Anna will join our ranks soon enough.
The discovery of the day was that Joshua is also a mad football player! We know he loves sports in general, and you have to play football on Thanksgiving, right? The boy is quite good at catching and throwing, and he loved the idea of running plays for a touchdown. I'm very curious to see if this sports stuff sticks with him or if he'll turn all gangly and awkward at puberty and decide he hates it all.
By the end of Friday our house was all decorated for Christmas! Hooray for a husband who can work fast!!!

Glad it went well! I don't know when kids start liking casseroles- mine had ham, bread, and pie! I did have them take "no thank you" bites of everything, and William decided he loved crowder peas!
