Now it is done. The final Harry Potter movie has come out. There is nothing left to look forward to in the Harry Potter series. Wait. Yes, there is! I own all the books! I can read them again and again! This is the mark of truly good literature - that you read it multiple times. So it isn't really over.As a general rule, I don't take the HP movies too seriously. It is way too much to expect that moviemakers can get all the nuances of the novels into a movie. But they are generally quite admirable attempts to faithfully convey as much as they can. I was a bit disappointed with the end of this movie, though. I suppose I must admit it is because I love Severus Snape. He and Harry are heroes that will live forever in literature. And the end of Deathly Hallows part 2 didn't do him justice, because the final battle between Voldemort and Harry wasn't right. It was supposed to take place with everyone watching and Harry telling Voldemort about how brave and wonderful Snape was. The movie just had a dramatic shootout type of thing, which was fine. But I wanted watch all of Hogwarts hear about Snape's heroics out of his love for Lily. Oh, well. I can see it in my mind.
Such an excellent series with high class characteristics of love, sacrifice, and redemption. I will read the books again and again in the future.
